Batista Biography

David Michael Bautista, Jr is an American mixed martial artist, bodybuilder, actor, and former professional wrestler best known for his time in World Wrestling Entertainment competing under the ring name Batista. He made his Ohio Valley Wrestling debut in 2000 under the ring name Leviathan. He later won the OVW Heavyweight Championship from "The Machine" Doug Basham before losing the belt to The Prototype. He began his WWE career on 9 May 2002 episode of SmackDown! as Deacon Batista, a villainous enforcer for Reverend D-Von. In January 2003, Batista joined Triple H, Ric Flair and Randy Orton to form the villainous stable Evolution. At Armageddon, Batista took part in two matches; losing to Shawn Michaels in a singles match, and winning a tag team turmoil match along with Ric Flair to become one-half of the World Tag Team Champions. Batista won the World Heavyweight Championship on 3 April in the main event of WrestleMania 21. Triple H challenged Batista to a Hell in a Cell match at Vengeance, which he won thus his title yet again. With this win, Batista became the first wrestler to pin Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match. In WWE, he became a six-time world champion, winning the World Heavyweight Championship four times, and the WWE Championship two times. He is the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history. In addition to these championships, Batista has won the World Tag Team Championship three times and the WWE Tag Team Championship once. Batista was also the winner of the 2005 Royal Rumble match and went on to headline WrestleMania 21. In August 2012, Bautista signed a contract with Classic Entertainment & Sports to fight in mixed martial arts.
